I've done preliminary work on this ID. What I am trying to say is I've done work myself to try to make this ID rather than just asking a simple "what is this?".
I am using "Dragonflies and Damselflies Of The East" by Paulson for initial help.
The Odo was seen in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on a thin sand edge of Lake Huron before the grass . Date July 4.
I've got this down between Dusky and Ashy Clubtails which the book says is very similar and hard to distinguish between. Range maps work for both too. Habitat also works for both but Dusky "Clear water lakes with open sandy shore or dense grass beds along shore" is spot on to my observation.
It impressed me as a big dude when I saw it making me lean toward Ashy. The "poorly defined yellow markings" on the appendage make me think Ashy. I'm trying to learn dragonflies and any help is very much appreciated.
