Is this doable or too dark or does the iso needs to be pumped up too high in general ?
It's for a 6D + 16-35 f4L IS combination, probably ISO3200-ISO6400 will be needed :(

Depends on the church and the lighting.

ISO 6400 f5.6 1/50, I do it all the time for my wife's choir performances, with a 60D (travel setup). When I use the 5DIII, I don't even think about ISO. I would expect similar ISO performance from the 6D, why the sad face?

You have to always make sure you shutter speed is at 1/125/second when the bride is walking down the isle. I found that to be the sweet spot. A 2.8 lens will obvisouly get you closer. 1/50th of a second wouldn't cut it for me. No way you could freeze even people walking at 1/50th. They'd be slightly soft.

IMO, doable, but only with wide angle lenses where you can dip shutter super low, and the subject is the background, not people. The 6D easily handles 6400 IMO.

Absolutely doable...I use the 24-105 f 4 L IS all the time and love it.

ISO too high on a 6D? Not at 6400, maybe 25,600. The 6D is good enough to shoot JPG at ISO 6400. I wouldn't hesitate. Jeez, I use my 60D at 6400.

EDIT:
Probably should add that I don't do weddings, or any other paid work.

6400 is nothing on the 6D. Last wedding I was at 10000 and 12800.

I have used my 70-200 f/4 IS during wedding ceremonies in a church without flash with the 6D. I wouldn't think it would be any problem with an ultra wide with IS.

The 6D is more than capable at high ISO and it actually produces a slightly cleaner image than the 5D Mark III. The 16-35 f4L is also a good choice and has amazing IS too with the ability to capture images at 1/5th second and even slower.

Depends on the church, but generally f4 with IS wouldn't cut it for me..

Some church's I shoot don't allow flash which makes 2.8 lens very handy..

My wife took the 6D & 24-105 to a wedding last year to get some shots as a spectator. Wanted to keep it simple & easy, so I set a minimum shutter speed of 1/125 on AV mode and even up at ISO12800, she came back with great results.

can it work = absolutely
is it optimal = no

when you deliver a portfolio of shots to your client, you are being judged on every picture but also on the sum total of your work

if you take 1000 pictures, reduce that to 400 edited and processed pictures for final delivery, and within those 400, you have 40 at ISOs 4000 - 10,000, they are well composed, well processed and edited, capture memorable moments, etc. then there is zero issue

if however, you are hanging out in a dark church & a dark hall all day and have 50% of your final pictures that are at iso 4000+ because F4 is your fastest aperture, then you should rent a fast prime or two

edit: I just looked at your lens sig - you have plenty of fast primes - just slap the 35 1.4 on one body and the 70-200II on the other and don't even think about the 16-35 F4 if moving people are involved in low light

Hockey and wedding photographer. Favourite camera / lens combos: a 1DX II with a Tamron 45 1.8 VC, an A7Rii with a Canon 24-70F2.8L II, and a 5DSR with a Tamron 85 1.8 VC. Every lens I own I strongly recommend [Canon (35Lii, 100L Macro, 24-70F2.8ii, 70-200F2.8ii, 100-400Lii), Tamron (45 1.8, 85 1.8), Sigma 24-105]. If there are better lenses out there let me know because I haven't found them.
