AA Lithium in Battery Grip

Can I use AA lithium batteries in a BG-13E with an EOS 6D, or do I need to stick with alkalines? (I always used lithiums in the battery grips for my Rebels, due to their lifespan, but if I need to stick with alkalines, the new RayOVac Fusions gave me pretty good service on my recent trip to Australia.)

There should be no problem at all using aa lithium's. They are 1.5 volt, so the same voltage and size as an aa alkaline battery. They just last longer because of their makeup.

Thanks, Ron. That's pretty much what I thought, but I wanted to double check now that I've treated myself to a full-size sensor and 24-105L !

Why not just pick a few Wasabi LP-E6's off Amazon? More capacity, cheaper, and less hassle.

That is an option, but I've always used a grip, and always used AAs - I know rechargeables are way different than when I first used them nearly 40 years ago (when they suffered horribly from memory effect and time-related discharge), but I prefer just being able to throw in AAs. I never have to worry if they're charged or if I have a charger available, and I can buy them anywhere - even internationally at a souvenir shop if necessary.

True. You can buy them anywhere, and for that reason it is great that Canon provides the ability to use them in the grip. However, once depleted they typically get tossed and are a source of pollution. Today's rechargeables are not NiCads, and will not have memory problems the way older batteries did. And they will give you more shots. And if you buy a quality 3rd party brand such as Wasabi, they will save you money pretty quickly. If you find that you are in that rare place where you can't charge your battery (I have not been there yet, myself), then the AAs are a nice backup.
