Well, I definitely realize that I need a true macro flash. I stole this guy last night while we were river fishing. He just crawled out of his shell, and I put him in a container and brought him home. I opened up the container this morning and he crawled right onto my finger. 4 or 5 of these were shot one handed while I held him. Shot at 1x, 2x, and 3x.

Thanks, guys...but my lighting is way too harsh, right? I have the camera & lens, but my lighting won't let me get the cool, smooth shots like you guys get. Is that the problem? Those shots are at 1, 2, and 3x, using a 430EXII flash.

I don 't see the lighting as a problem in these shots.
