These were shot at Scale over Ottawa which is a judged event with the emphasis on flying in a scale manor rather than building accurately. The model must perform a series of maneuvers that match how the full scale version would do them. Attendance was low due to a very iffy forecast but the weather didn't affect things & started clearing up in mid afternoon making for some great photos.

Great captures. Particularly like #'s 3, 7 & 8. I am an RC boat enthusiast but there is a very active group of flyers in the area. This year the RC boating has taken up third place behind my photography and power boating.

Thank you. We have an active boating club in the area & a friends father is one of the members. The president of that club was at the Float Fly a couple of weeks ago taking photos. I moved from R/C to photography back in the mid 80's & took up R/C again 5 years ago thanks to the advances in electric power. I can fly out back without disturbing the neighbors at the flip of a switch.

I enjoy both hobbies even though I got a little tired of seeing expensive batteries and components end up at the bottom of a lake or river. So the camera equipment is winning out as far as the allocation of funds is concerned. :)

One of the pilots at the float fly had a hard bouncing landing that shook the battery out. Fortunately the plane sort of landed itself without damage but flipped over. I wonder how often that happens.

Don't know about the float plane but I've watched a buddy flip his 6s fast electric cat and lose his brand new pack, and fry a very expensive speed controller.

Thanks Randy. We have the annual Zone Fun Fly this weekend near Galetta if you want to see what it's all about. Several regulars fly some rather big planes & there may be a jet or 2.
