I see mixed reviews on people sucessfully using it. What does everyone think? Yes, my interest in this is basically because of the lower price.

thanks a ton. I have been looking for a good flash, but I can't see myself shelling out the $$ for a speedlite model. Especially when buying a better lens is first on my priority list.

Also, getting a less costly flash gives me time to play with and learn the basic principles to using it before upgrading.

If you want to upgrade at a later date, don't forget good old ebay, to sell on, then you lose only about 30% max. So it'll never end up being a dust gatherer when you do shell out the big bucksville for the 580.

Sigma makes that flash for a number of different camera brands. Just make sure you get the right one. Mine works great!

Sorry to be the dissenting voice but mine never worked right on my 20d. Thought it was me so I went down to our high end photo store and the guy says its not unusual to encounter problems. Bought a 580 at a later date and haven't had the first problem.

Works well with both my 20D's, also had no problem on previous 10D and 300D.

no problems with rebel, 20D and 1D-N.

actually, one problem. for a while I tried multi-flash setups with a sigma 500 super as master and a 420EX as slave. That was hit-and-miss. I now have 2 sigma units, and multi-flash is perfect. no problems.

My first post - yikes!

I have this flash and the rebel xt as well. Love it.

Only problem I've had is I bought a used Quantum 2 Battery pack and it's not compatible! Gone to two camera stores, searched everywehre online and no one can find anyway to get a cord to connect - grrr....

Also, I have found that the on-camera flash will trigger this Sigma flash if it is set at the slave mode on channel 0. Sweet. I am curious what others have done with this flash for slaving - what flashes have you used with it? I'm new to using this function and could use any (and all) advice.
