Thinking of upgrading to the 5DS R , so may decide to sell the 5DIII, if I can get a reasonable price.
So hence need to check the image count, I Think its about 35,000 ( based on a record of shoots ) but I know by putting in a card with a few images on the card, it can set the image count incorrectly. i.e. over state it.

Any idea what these go for in ultra immaculate, as new condition in the UK.?
Totally pampered studio camera , never had a lens changed outside, only had brand new lenses put on it, pampered in a memory foam lined case , never had a drop of rain on it. Never exposed to dust etc. and utterly as new unmarked.

Meant to say harm a camera

Used bodies start at around £1500 up to whatever you can get. Mint- are about £1800 if you look at the likes of MPB Wex and Mifsuds. The bay of fleas are about 10% cheaper as people drop out of the bid knowing another will be along shortly. No idea what yours is worth, but it sounds like there is a little sentimental value attached. Regardless of shutter count or condition, used is just that, used. To get maximum return I would try selling locally I.e. camera club and face to face to emphasise condition. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks, yes you are right.mand also the fear factor.
My 5D3 is perfect zero MFA and no faults. i just dread getting a lemon!
Plus as its perfect just to get some more resolution makes it hard for me to move on and more importantly lose a bunch of cash.
It was so much easier migrating from a crop - as there were for me massive benefits. And that fab AF !

So I kinda appreciate it performs flawlessly, even when I am tired at theend of a shoot and screw up a little the image quality is still good enough to recover to an acceptable standard.
Thanks for the info.

Install Magic Lantern (external link) in your camera (it's totally free),
you got the shutter count by using the trash bin button of your camera > thru the ML menu, then just uninstall ML when it's finish

Magic Lantern works very well. Virtually "0" chance of harming your camera.

You really don't install anything on the camera. You will be reinstalling the same firmware you have (provided you are on a version that is supported), and it will simply flip a boot flag to look at the card first for a ROM vs the onboard camera ROM. If you don't want ML, remove the ML files from the card, or switch out cards.

Otherwise all other tools that are known to work will talk via API calls to the camera when you tether it, and query for the shutter count. They will not hurt your camera, they only communicate with it when you hook it up.

ML will give you some really cool new features however. :)
