Pretty much the same photos that everybody takes on Skye, but since I was there it'd have been rude not to :)

Wonderful series. Love the old shipwreck on the beach. One thing, though - they all look a bit dark to me on my monitor.

Beautiful set. I especially like the close up of #4.

Been to all these places and like Glen Coe, it sometimes does look better in the dark and dreary weather.

Exactly :) Making sparkling bright oversaturated images would do Scotland a grave injustice in my view - my treatment of the place concentrates more on shadows and menacing clouds since a lot of the time that's precisely what the Scottish experience involves :)

Very nice set. Looks like you had a great day for Bla Bheinn - where did you turn back? It's the most fantastic viewpoint (of many) on Skye IMHO!

Turned around on a very steep and loose scree path out of the upper corrie at around 650m due to 50mph winds gusting to 60 or 70, and frequent very heavy rain showers rattling through. I would have gone on but for the weather, but given the reports saying that it's an easy ascent, I feel I must have missed a path somewhere.

I later found out at Sligachan that the Cuillins had been misted out above 600m fairly well all day so I didn't actually miss the view, which made me feel better :)

Already planning a couple of nights at Broadford Youth Hostel in September/October to give it another shot :)

This was the view from pretty much my highest point, just after I was almost blown over, again

Well, it being an 'easy' ascent is very subjective! For Skye, it's one of the easiest but that doesn't mean a walk in the park. You were exactly in the right place - it's very rough and the definition of 'path' is really 'where many other people have gone before'!

I was up in April on a gorgeous day - I think this was taken very close to the spot your photo was taken. It's pretty steep and rocky!

Ahhh beautiful beautiful skye, one day soon! I agree with the dark processing, but, my issue is they look a little flat, could you boost the contrast/clarity to give them some pop??

Clarity/contrast are already pushed quite a long way, believe it or not :) The issue is, it being Scotland, that the sun graced only one or two of the shots with its presence so there's no shadow detail. "Pop", however, is really not my thing and not what I ever go for.

Re. the dark thing; I saw these on a different screen (at work) today and they were indeed far too dark. I guess as usual it'll come down to monitor calibration but these look just as I like them on all my - uncalibrated - computers (and phones, and tablets). They're processed dark, but not so dark that there are yawning black holes in them like I saw on the work monitors.

If they look like that to anyone: apologies, that's not how I intended them to be :) You'll just have to take my word for it when I say they look OK to me :)

And thanks Annie :)

The most likely route I saw was around a rocky corner with a tiny little cairn leading to an unnaturally straight scree-choked "chimney" between a rock wall and a waist-high rock ridge, probably set at around 45 degrees, leading to an ominous run-out and drop into a gully. As I say, there are a few ways that I could have gone on with, but none that I would have been too happy coming back down in that wind and if it had started raining again - which it did :)
