nice captures- I've seen them chase off competition but he looks serious. really like night herons- hope he finds something to eat

I agree. I've never seen one eat anything but fish. I have heard of them eating other things when the chance occurred through. Just haven't seen it myself.

No, The Heron flew into some heavy reeds -the osprey chased and then flew off. Thanks to all for the kind words

Very cool documentation of unusual behavior. I've watch and photographed Osprey for countless hours over the years and I've never seen one show aggression to any other birds with the exception of other Osprey during nesting time. I also have never seen an Osprey eat anything but fish. If this bird wanted the Night Heron it would have taken it, this was clearly a statement attack.
