Ok Here is what I want........ 1D series camera.......why?

I really like the build quality.....

Problem...$$$$

As you can see I have the 300D

I was again thinking about the 1D MKI just so I can have the build , focus, and other options it has. I really want the MKII but the $ is just not possible at this time.

The other option is to get the 30D to hold me over but will it really. I know I am the only one that can make this decision and my wife says just learn more about taking pictures first. I agree but I cannot help what I want!

Help an idoit and his wants.....

I'd like a 1 series. But a 1DMK11 costs close enough to 3 20Ds.
Or 2 20Ds and some lenses. I think I can make better use out of 2 20Ds and change. I had 2 Pentax istDS for a while , kept a Sigma 70-200 on one body and usually 16-45 on the other. I really miss the 2 body experience.

Good way to look at it ... I will get the 1D series camera just not the right time... Maybe a few years down the road when I can afford to do it...

Get a 30D, the 20D is an excellent camera and they improved on it! not to mention
the price is not that bad. I also want to upgrade from my 20D to a 1 series or 5D but
it is so damn expensive. I spent a crap pile last year on what I have know and I am lucky to have what I have. My god, and I thaught 2 foot itis was bad in boats :)

You are very lucky, you have some fantastic glass there. I agree the 30D is the best option for me in the near future.

OK, here is a good question for you. Except for the instant gratification, what about "film"? Really, how much better can a digital be than film as far as "quality"of the end image is concerned?
Now kep in mind, as I made this reply, I just got a 300D and am still learning. But unless you are willing and have the $$$$, why cant you have the best of both worlds?

The 2 1/2'" LCD is great and so is the better control of the ISO.
It's $300 US cheaper for the 20D but I think the 20D prices are going to drop a lot more.
