More info | Jul 27, 2015 05:54 | #4 I kept my old 300D around when I got my "new" 20D (in 2012) for my kids to borrow when a P&S or phone wasn't enough, although as the AF Sub Mirror pin was broken it was MF only, they quickly became surprisingly good at manual focus. When I got the 50D last year the 20D took over that role. It's also a handy second body for me at times. It's nice to be able to shoot an airshow now with a 100-400 or 150-600 lens on the 50D and a shorter zoom on the 20D for general shots.

I've donated several film bodies, and accompanying lenses to the Arts department of an Indiana University satellite campus. I take classes there regularly. Lots of folks these days don't even get the concept. There is an ad in the sale pages offering to trade a Rokinon 14mm for any UWA with AF. Poor kid doesn't even realize that at 14mm, there is almost no need for any kind of focus. I can shoot mine for an entire day and never touch the focus. It doesn't get much easier than that. WARNING: I often dispense advice in fields I know little about!

That's what I love about my 10-18mm STM. At 10mm even wide open the depth of field goes on forever. I love shooting super wide for video. Jurgen
