I am mostly a sports guy that has been doing some second shooting this year for local wedding photographers. I am not a full-time pro and never have the intention of being one, but I find the idea of shooting 4-5 weddings a year as an attractive idea to supplement my sports work. This has been my first year as a semi-pro and I find that to be a good balance for myself.

In any case, I took some shots (as a guest) at a ceremony a few months ago and a friend-of-a-friend that I met saw those and just got in touch about covering her sister's wedding. Any idea how I should handle pricing for this? On the one hand it would be nice to make more than I do as a second shooter but I feel like I really need the first booking as a solo shooter to jump-start things. I let them know that my experience is as a second and she is ok with that.

This is not going to be a huge affair-- it is at a very nice venue but I think about ~100 guests and they have only requested ceremony+reception coverage.

dont undercharge, because the first thing someone will do after they see your pics is ask the bride/groom who you are and how much you charge. :)

weddings take a lost of pre and post work so factor that into your cost. i can easily spend more time on the wedding then i will actually shooting it whether its culling pics, editing, emailing, going over details, scouting the venue, etc.
