Just like the title says, I'm doing a wedding this weekend and am wondering which way I should go. The venue isn't huge, and I'll have a second shooter with me. The equipment list so far is:

5d3
5d2
24-70 2.8
70-200 2.8
2 nifty fifty's

I've used the 85 1.8 a number of times and love it's sharpeness, but wanted to play with the 35 for some excellent smooth bokeh. I will have both focal lengths covered with the other glass, but what's your opinion/experience? Both to be mostly used for the bridal/couple portraits, maybe not even during the ceremony.
I could technically rent them both for not too much more money, but more money is still more money haha.

Your thoughts?

Yes.

Can't go wrong with either.

Your style will dictate which one your reach for more. Or, you might never get the chance to put in on your camera. For bridal party portraits the 35 will be ideal, for couple portraits the 85 will be the candidate.

So...Both. (it wouldn't take my vote)

I don't rent lenses. I buy them before I need them at a discount used and resell them for at least what I paid for them. Works every time.
