Talley,

Have you had good luck defishing the SY 12? I'm interested in something wider and will probably be buying a 6D2 when one is released but I want something wide on the 7D until then that I dont have to sell when I do go FF. Can you post some images with the SY12 on FF then crop? Also is there a lens sample thread for the SY12? I can't find one.

I have a Sigma 15mm FE, a Rokinon 12mm FE, a 6D and a 70D. What kind of examples can I help you with? Interiors. Wide open landscapes. Up close with HUGE DOF? I have some time on my hands for a day or two. It is supposed to rain tomorrow, though.

I just got the 12, and have never used either lens on crop.

Thanks. Interior would be just fine. Maybe same camera position and one shot with 6d other with 70D. Bonus if you have a 17-xx or 18-xx zoom at the widest on your 70D for comparison.

Here you go... quick shots... all taken with the exact same center (blue ball on tree in front of mirror) 1st image is Sigma 17-50 @ 17mm on a 70D, 2nd image is the 12mm FE on 7D2 and I'll post the 12mm on 5D3 in another post below.

I haven't defished yet... haven't seemed the need to for what I've used it on.

Wide is the only reason I moved to FF. You can get really wide lol.... huge difference w/ the cropper vs FF.

Thanks Talley. Yeah I am surprised how much of the fisheye effect is lost on the crop.

Apologies for taking so long. All shot on 6D @ f/4, focused left/back of chair to my left. Point of aim is the same for all shots. Sorry, I made no attempt to equalize exposure. Room is 12' L to R, and 16' deep as the camera sees it. In order: 17-40 @ 17mm, Sigma 15mm f/2.8 FE, Rokinon 12mm f/2.8 FE.

Rok 12. I really like that the Rokinon 12mm FE is wider than the Sigma 15, and displays less distortion. That, and it has no annoying AF.

Stereographic baby! I was waiting my whole life for this 12 :) lol

I want to see if the comparison from your sigma 15 to the 12 is the same as mine. Can you take crops in the corners and throw them up. The 12 was significantly sharper wide open vs the sigma even at 5.6 on my copies.

Do you want me to shoot a flat object like a brick wall? Corner performance will be way different, depending on focus distance, subject matter, and aperture. I think the only fair comparison is the brick wall test. Right now it is raining so I won't get much done today.

I tested mine on about 10 or 12 areas. at 12-15mm even at 2.8 you get alot in focus. at 5.6 pretty much everything is in focus. As long as your subject to camera distance is greater than 6-7 feet or so you'll be able to see whats up.

If you keep both lenses at the same position and take the same exact photo then it's a fair comparison. The corners on my 12 blew away the sigma..... even slightly bested the Canon 8-15.

Ok, I'll try to set something up. I expect significant DOF differences, though. Will start with f/5.6 focused at 6'.
