I am about to pull the trigger on a 70D, body only, I am a bit leery about buying Canon products on Ebay since i have heard a lot of bad stories about it. But this looks like a great deal. Would you guys trust this?

Looks fine.

I personally dont buy from ebay. If you dont trust the seller or ebay, try looking for a reliable vendor.
I googled and came up with a few other vendors for about the same price.

i am fairly certain that canonrumors.com regularly lists them in their news feed. I suspect that if they had heard negative feedback from their readers they would stop listing them.

I know canon price watch calls them an unathorized dealer.

Everyone has a different tolerance for risk but with 63,000+ feedback at 99.7% I'm pretty sure it's okay to assume this is a legitimate seller.

That's why they can advertise below MAP. Authorized dealers cannot.

I've noticed from CPW they sometimes sell grey market products, but when they do so, they disclose that and offer their own warranty. This particular camera appears to be a US product with a Canon and/or seller warranty. IOW, they look legit to me.

You are getting a used camera warranty: NONE. The price isn't all that great, either. You can do better in the POTN sale pages. I wouldn't touch it.

where did you read "used"? I just went through the description and it say "brand new" and further down it says 12 months warranty

He was just saying u get the same warranty as a used one...which is none. He wasn't saying it's not new.The warranty they offer is through them, not Canon. Not sure what the experience is dealing with these guys for warranty claims, but I've heard great things about Canon warranty claims.

This is also probably a gray market item. Depends on how much you are hurting for cash. I'd feel better about buying from a local dealer. And that's exactly what I did when I bought my 70D. With the reported "focus issues" the 70D supposedly may have, I felt better knowing I was getting brand new with a CANON warranty.

Honestly... Odds are, if you buy this, you will be fine and have no issues. It's the "what if" that gets you though. ;)

Review this thread about a 5Ds offering ($2999) by same vendor in Brooklyn NY. Based on article content they seem reputable. Just be aware the camera is gray market so warranty is through vendor, not Canon.

I didn't say the camera was used. I said the buyer is getting a camera with a 'used camera' warranty: NONE. It makes no sense to me to pay more than the going price for a used camera, and not get something for it. Used 70D bodies on POTN can be had for ~$725. Personally, if I were in the market for a 70D, I'd get the $950 Canon refurb before buying an $800+ (tax, shipping, etc.) 'used' copy.

Warranty is through the would be my main concern. Majority of the bad feedback they have is for slow shipping and poor communications. If I was happy with the warranty situation I would probably use them.

Your post seems contradictory to me. Gray market warranty? I'll sell you my 60D with a no-questions-asked, 500-year, triple-your-money-back warranty.

I trust Canon to honor their warranty. I am not investing any time in reading the fine print in an unauthorized retailer's 'warranty'.
