Coelioxys sp. Leaf Cutter Cuckoo Bee

Tech Specs: Canon 70D (F16, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (2x to 5x) + a diffused MT-24EX. These are single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.

Technique: I went looking for dormant bees early in the morning and found this Cuckoo Bee sleeping in my Lavender (surprising since it was 25C at 6AM). After it woke up I placed it next to a Daisy and it went back to sleep. I used an artificial flower behind it to keep the background from being black. The flowers that I use are not a solid color and I'm getting backgrounds that have some depth to them. Solid colors have a tendency to make a photo seem flat.
