Mississippi Kite soaring over Allendale, SC. These birds didn't approach closely very often, they seemed more shy than the Swallow-tailed.

The last couple of years I chased kites around in s. Florida but you had to get lucky for a close fly by. This was the first time I visited this pre migration concentration- what a pleasure to be near so many at one time. I will be back next year canon R3, 1DXmk2, 600 F4 L IS mk2,100-400 L IS mk2, 16-35 F4 L IS, 24-105 F4L, canon 1.4xmk3, 2xmk3

I will be back next year Thanks Bob, it really is an incredible sight and a serious challenge when they dive to catch insects. There were about 25 Mississippi Kites on the day I was shooting. I heard reports of over 50 on some days. I'm looking forward to next year, I would be going tomorrow but couldn't find anyone wanting to take the drive. Shame, the weather is perfect. Steve
