VR (IS) + it will take a 2X converter at that price? I'm feeling envy!

Same here! Here's what Nikon says about the converters...

Compatible with TC-14E series teleconverters (AF is only available when used with DSLR cameras that offer f/8 support. These include: D4, D4S, Df, D600, D610, D750, D800, D800E, D810, D7100, D7200). Compatible with TC-17E and TC-20E series teleconverters (AF not possible).

With the 1.4x the lens becomes 280-700mm. Wow! :-D

I'm curious to see how it will compare to the Sigma Sport 150-600, both in quality and in weight.

IQ is yet to be seen. Weight is 4.6 pounds for the Nikon and 6.3 for the sport.

If IQ is on par with Canon's 100-400II then Nikon will hit a home run with this lens.
But time will tell with the IQ. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. ;-)a
