Hello! I am new here

Hi! Just thought I would say hello as I have just joined this forum. I am a Lancashire photographer and I have achieved a 2:1 in BA Photography and Digital Design so I have a bit of experience. I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place but I haven't used forums before and I am just hopeless at finding my way around this website. Anyways, it says I have to post my images in a forum before I can add it to my profile gallery and I want to add my 18 portfolio images so people can see the range of photography I can do. So, here's hoping its not against the rules, I am going to use this thread to post them. Please feel free to give feedback as I am always looking to improve. I am going to post ONE A DAY so as it doesn't come up as spam or something. I hope that by being on this forum I can get help when I need it as I am trying to start a self-employed photography business and I am not having much success yet :C but I also hope to help some beginners with the knowledge I have from my course. Granted, I don't know everything but I hope I can help one or two people. With all that said, hello and thank you for having me

I suggest that you not do that, as this is not an image sharing portion of the forum. Look at the top of the page to "Index", or the bottom to "Jump to Forum" & click on one of them. Pick the appropriate subforum & post your images there.

And Welcome to POTN!

If you have an online display site like Flickr. You are limited to two images within one post. You aren't supposed to post a series of images like that unless you are responding to comments to what you have posted.
If you do have a web storage site, you can emplace several--8, I think, images within one post.

That's confusing? How about, "If you don't have an online display site like Flickr. You are limited to two images within one post.

Errrr... please specify a bit more please or make it simpler. Like I said, I have never used forums before so I have no idea where to find things. I'm afraid all those posts have just confused me. I did read the terms and conditions but I don't understand all of it. sorry if I sound dumb but this is just a bit of a blind spot for me. If there is a place I can introduce myself then please give me the direct name of the forum thread to find or post a link. And as far as the images are concerned. sorry if I went against the rules. I think I kind of understand that I basically can't post my portfolio on here but I can post a link to my Flickr. I have this link in my signature so I think I will leave it at that. But is it OK to post as many images as I want if it is in response to another thread? Like a thread on bridge images and I post more than 2 but not at once like I post 1 bridge picture for the thread one day and then a week later I post another and then a couple of weeks later I post another. Is that still too many as I have a limit of how many in total or is it just all at once posts. Again, sorry for all the fuss

Usually requests for feedback are posted to the critique corner forum. I once posted feedback to a shot that was on another forum. It was my mistake on my part and the poster was not receptive to critical comments.

But since you asked, be wary of what your camera's light meter decides when taking pictures of white objects like this lamb. It sets an exposure that makes whites look like an 18% gray card. The result is an underexposed shot, which is what you have here. It works the other way for dark subjects, which are likely to appear gray if you don't exercise some control.

ah yes. thank you, that is some good advice I haven't heard before I have been recommended to use a grey card before but wasn't sure whether it made a difference when I actually tried it but maybe I should try again with a brighter or darker subject. Even though people told me to use a grey card people have never truly specified why or at least in a way that made sense for my images. I didn't know it effected it in that way. Actually, you can post your portfolio here on POTN. It is your GALLERY. And I see you have already found the "gallery" feature, and added 8 of your photos to it......that's a good start!

I think the key is to find threads to which it would be appropriate to post your photos. Then when you post an image to that thread, you can add it to your POTN gallery. This way you will be contributing to the forum community by adding pertinent content to existing threads. EDIT - I see you've already started doing that; you're a quick study!

I encourage you to be active here on the forum, and I wish you the best with your photographic pursuits!

awww thank you for the nice comment yes I have started to try to get my portfolio on here bit by bit by posting my images in appropriate forums but I am not the best at finding the right ones. Glad you think I am doing a good job though. thanks again

For this image, you could have had some help from the histogram. Since your subject is white, you could have taken a shot & checked the histogram. If the curve didn't come very close to the right side, (& it doesn't here), you could have tried one stop more exposure & then checked again.
This would not have worked if you had included a bright sky in the image. Then you would have to frame just the sheep, set the best exposure in manual mode, & reframed the exposure to include the sky as you originally wanted to.
