That is a very poorly worded question. What do you want to use the light for? What are your actual needs and desired workflow?

I've been happy with the one I've picked up so far, and now I'm just saving up and waiting for the Canadian Dollar to pick up in value and then I'll order two or three more of the Rovelights, along with some more smaller YN flashes for when I need smaller lights than the RLs. However, if you're really only looking for something to add a bit of fill, then the Rovelight is probably not the best of choices.

I love mine. It's really powerful. I'm still getting the hang of shooting at 1/4000 or higher and balancing the ambient, but I'm super happy. I also use the YN622c's to trigger and the rove transmitter stays in my pocket to adjust power.

It's true - no real answer to the question. I like mine but it was purchased for HSS and bright sunlight.

I waited for the Rovelight to be back in stock at Adorama and ran out of patience.
I ended up getting the Mettle 600 AD with a savings of about $155.
I planned on using a YN622C to trigger the light regardless of what I bought.
About the only thing I am missing is the ability to remotely adjust my power level.
Although I have never used a Rovelight, I am quite happy with the Mettle 600 AD.

That and the battery on the Mettle strobes really don't last very long. I have 2 of the battery packs with my other Flashpoints and one is completely dead and the other I get maybe 40 full pops. I just use a Vagabond mini with those ones now.

I plan on getting one soon for the same use, it seems to be one of the best options for budget location shooting. I'm mainly looking to add versatility to shoot at wide apertures in bright sun and control for shooting locations that would otherwise have bad lighting. I'm looking to get the Rovelight plus 58" Octa, from what I've seen this combo should work well together.

I like to shoot things...sometimes with a camera!

I believe they went out of stock last week of May or first week of June, and didn't get any number in till a few weeks ago. Will be interesting to see whether or not they stay in stock or if these long waits become a thing a few times a year.

I went with the Rovelight because it appeared to be the most cost effective solution for my needs. I wanted something that was portable, and I could take out and quickly deploy in the field, mainly in arenas, and not have to worry about running power cords anywhere. That it was a fully contained unit in and of itself that wouldn't even have cords running down just to the base of the light stand was a bonus, partially offset by the heavier head.

I was also considering the Indra500, or the Profoto B1, but ultimately rejected them on price as not practical to my real needs.

I ordered the first part of July.
The backorder date kept getting pushed back.
Of course, as soon as I purchased the Mettle, the Rovelight came back in stock.
So far, the battery has been doing quite well.

Good to know, I'll keep that in mind and will probably do the same if the battery starts to fail.

Heya,

I went from speedlites to the Rovelight. Costly, but I like it, it does what I was looking for, which is HSS to be able to over power the sun in Florida, so I'm not limited to what time of day I can shoot. I use a YN622 trigger in the sync port to control both the triggering and the HSS, etc. I don't use the stock trigger other than to change power levels from my pocket. I have zero issues with triggering or synching, it works flawless. The power is fantastic. 600Ws that is portable with no wires, no external battery pack, etc, is great. I use mine on a Cheetah boomstand. I use both a 48" octa softbox, a 60" umbrella, and/or just bare with no modifier other than the stock diffuser it comes with sometimes. Great, portable, muscle strobe. I went with Bowen's mount.

If you need an outdoor strobe that is portable, the Rovelight is the one to go for in my mind. I compared to other options that were either much more expensive, or had better features, but was only 360Ws and had external battery packs, etc. Ultimately the Rovelight won me over. And Adorama has good customer service and I've already worked with them on replacements, etc, and they were awesome (my initial Rovelight purchase had a messed up battery, they replaced my whole unit and light and everything right away, took maybe a week to get my new one because Bowen's is always out of stock, but they called me and went over everything via video chat with their Flashpoint techs, the service alone was worth it to me so far).

You'll be happy with it I think as an outdoor shooter in the sun.

Very best,

I think I will too. Up to now I have been unable to shoot at different times of the day so this will actually make my photography more versatile. Thanks for your vote of confidence on my purchase.
