Have been watching the sell board, seems like a lot of mk ii for sale? Is it a disappointment?

I looked for 7D II and had 20 come up, and many of those are 7D's with a 5DII or flashes or other 'mark II' put in there, so not all listed are 7DII's.

I'm very happy with mine.

Godox/Flashpoint r2 system, plus some canon stuff.

Who knows why they are selling. Bills to pay, not a great fit for their type of photography, too many bodies, etc.

Mine was because of focus errors that Canon couldn't or wouldn't fix. I didn't sell it I traded it in as I didn't want to pass the fault onto somebody else without some warranty.

Yes I've been looking also lately and thought the same, 56 for sale at this time in the UK, checking the COMPLETED listings they seem to go for £900-£1,000.

I've been looking for a mint used 1d4 (Comparable with 7d2) and they just seem to be getting more and more expensive. Approx £1,500 for V.Good condition one. Just saw a mint one go for £2K. Have read several posts lately where members had a 1D4 and then got the 7d2 only to go back to the 1d4.

This is a very popular camera which has been available for around 9 months. Canon has probably sold many thousands of them. I'm confident the resales are a very small percentage. For some it was probably buyers remorse. Some I know realized what they really wanted was a 5D Mark III or a 1Dx.

Sometimes people buy things with unrealistic expectations and then move on to the next piece of gear. They are never happy. It's a continuous revolving door. And of course, for some the camera simply did not do what they wanted it to do, or didn't do it well enough.

For me, the update was from my old but capable Canon 60D. The 7D II exceeds my expectations every day and it's a joy to use.. While some argue that the sensor technology lags behind Nikon and Sony, the functionality, ergonomics, and build of this camera set it apart from anything else in or near it's class as long as you can live without 4K video, WiFi, and an articulating touch screen.

I'm involved with a few camera clubs, in each there are a few "gear heads" They seem to buy a new camera every few months, sell that, buy the next etc. Heck I know one guy who just bought his second 5DIII, after selling the first a year or two back.

Some of them have enough funds to buy it, check it out, let it go for a loss a few months later.

Exactly. I've found that many, but not all, who do that are more interested in gadgets and technology than in the creation of great photos. They talk about the latest and greatest gear all the time and spend far less effort on actually honing their skills. I know many gear heads in various disciplines other than photography, and it's always the same. Skills trump equipment.

Where did you work a trade? I may consider this if mine comes back poor again.

Golf is the worst, I have a bag of clubs worth over $3500, I paid less than $800 for, and all was bought nearly new.

You can't buy good technique in any discipline.

Agree. I don't play golf myself, but I would assume it's no different. I'll bet many people upgrade their clubs or buy new drivers or whatever because the previous round of purchases didn't improve their game enough. I've seen posts from purchasers of new higher end cameras complaining that they wasted their money because their pictures aren't any better. Not sure whether to laugh or cry when I read that.

Of course some people do have legitimate problems with their gear.

I think we are in a period of "sympathetic" focus issues with the 7D2. There seem to be a fair amount of cameras with legitimate problems and that is causing a lot of people to think their camera is a wanker every time they take a soft photo.

When I used my 1D4. I would take about 3000 photos per event. I do a LOT of panning of gokarts from inside the track. So once I deleted all the soft or blown pans, and otherwise crappy snaps I am left with about 800-1000 photos.

After 6 or 7 events now with my 7D2 my yield is exactly the same. Well, when I first used the 100-400II on my 7D2 my yield went down a bit since it was so different than shooting with my 70-200+1.4.

I didn't find that one camera did any better than the other locking focus or tracking once I determined the AF sensitivity settings aren't 1 to 1 between cameras.

It's incredible to think that the 1d4 is now coming upto 6 years old whereas the 7d2 is about 1 year old yet they are compared continuously in performance although they have different digic processors and technologies. The 1d4 is still a very popular camera and still goes for very good money. It will probably still be the camera that will be compared to who knows what could be the next 7d Mark 3 ???

Keep in mind that in several respects the 7DII is also being compared favorably as a not so little brother to the 1DX. Not too shabby when you consider the 7DII is available at B&H for $1500, and the 1DX for 3 &1/2 times more at $5300.
