Aug 07, 2015 23:44 | #2 So I suppose I would pose a not completely rhetorical question - as an image becomes more and more abstract, does it eventually leave the definition/realm of photography and become something else? Where would that line be, and which side of that line is this image on?

As a photo, it's too far manipulated to really judge anything. As an abstract it just looks like a simple effect in one spot with no direction or impact on the viewer. A photo generally conveys it's message better without as much need for a title or written meaning- it is still helpful to explain the photo and it's intended message but not as much as with an abstract. To me there is not enough to this image to critique it as either a photo or an abstract- it's not interesting enough to pass as an abstract. The image needs to convey something to the viewer or else it's just an image with a bunch of "warp" tool or similar simple effect. I like to shoot things...sometimes with a camera!
