Setup to shoot some Finches using my new feeder. I have it hanging in my front yard off a shepard's hook about 30ft from my porch. Camera on tripod on the porch. I have a flash on a stand, about 45degs camera left, about 10ft away from the feeder. My house faces west, and these were shot in the evening. Well I wanted the nice "golden hour" light, however mother nature wasn't cooperating. It was very cloudy, which hid all that lovely light. So I made my own, CTO gelled flash, but the photos reflect a sunrise..
I recently purchased another hummingbird feeder, had it setup next to the feeder above, but the hummer wasn't touching it. So I decided to hang it on a plant hook on the NW corner of my small front porch. I was sitting about 5-6ft away from it, so did not expect him to bother. WRONG, he buzzed me first, about 3ft in front of my face. I guess to let me know he's back. He disappeared right afterwards. Again, no way he's going to feed on the close feeder, since I have the other in the back yard. Wrong again. I had to sneak quickly to the yard, grab the flash off the stand, put in on camera, and swing around to start focusing on the hummer feeder. It was getting dark, and he didn't provide me with much time to get lighting set. The clear plastic feeder container really messed with the lighting. Was a nice learning experience though.

And the next time, a whole different set of problems
Great adapting.
