I've been considering the Speed Freak bag for a while and just did a Google product search and sorted by price and Crutchfield's was drastically cheaper than anyone else.

It looks like the rest of their Think Tank gear is on sale as well. Everyone might want to take a look.

The Speed Freak is usually $159.75 and Crutchfield has is for $116.75 ($43 off).
The Speed Racer is usually $179.75 and Crutchfield has it for $129.75 ($50 off).

Looks like any over $35 ship free.

Needless to say it was time and I purchased a Speed Freak immediately :-D

Thanks. See some pretty good discounts here.

I bought a ton of Think Tank gear last year and couldn't be happier with them.

Thanks so much. I just saved 80 bucks on a few things that I had in my B&H wish list.

That's good to hear John, I haven't heard much bad in general. Thanks for the reassurance I've made the right decision.

Glad I could help you out Chris. I was hoping this find could benefit someone here other than just me.

I'm guessing Crutchfield may have put all of their Think Tank stuff on clearance to dump whatever they have on hand but that's just a guess.

Awesome stuff, on a Whim I searched Thinktank @ B&H, and they have a mess of deals as well. Compare them in some cases the B&H deal is a little better, in same cases the Crutchfeild.

And B&H is already sold out of some of the discontinued colored products.. (like the Retrospective 30)

I'm a big fan of my Retrospective 30, so i got the 40 and 50 @ B&H and will likely sell my 30 as it's black, and I don;t like black bags. :)

Got a shapeshifter. Surprisingly, Greentoe could not beat Crutchfield's price. That's the first time that's happened.

If you are a Discover card holder, you can make it even a sweet deal:
- Discover deal cashback for crutchfield is 5%
- 10% if you signed up for the double cashback promo for a year
- Even more savings if you buy crutchfield giftcards through Discover ($40 for $50 GC)
- You can stack multiple gift cards on Crutchfield online orders

Used two giftcards so after cashback, I'm expecting the shapeshifter to cost me ~$170.

You're welcome roqdawg.

That is interesting. Unfortunately the Speed Freak wasn't/isn't cheaper at B&H so I had to go with Crutchfield. Obviously they're two pretty reputable retailers so either way it's a win. The least I can do is make everyone's wallet lighter because of these deals, haha.

I don't even see the Shape Shifter available anymore at Crutchfield so you probably nabbed one of the last ones there. I just saw the Greentoe thread and I'll have to check them out next time I'm in the market for gear. Looks like an interesting business model. Nice job on eking out every last dollar, that's a great deal! Cheapest camelcamelcamel indicates Amazon has had it for is $199.

FYI.

I noticed that Crutchfield is not listed on Think Tank's web site as an authorized dealer so I contacted TT.

They confirmed that Crutchfield was an authorized dealer but are not anymore.

May explain the fire sale.

Makes sense. Thanks for investigating. Also, good to know if I ever need to utilize their no rhetoric warranty.

My Speed Freak arrived and it is a beast. I can see why they charge what they do. The initial quality is pretty impressive moving up from a Lowepro Nova 170 AW. I can see why Think Tanks gear is recommended so often.

What else should I pick up from them now? lol

I ended up grabbing two sizes of retrospective from B&H in the green and blue (they have weird names)

I will be selling a Billingham and a black Retrospective soon.

thanks for the heads up! Great deals on some of the best bags!

I like the retro bags too. I'm going to sell my UD 60 and Retro 30 and get the Retro 50

One difference to the 50 (and 40) vs. 30, instead of two separate front pockets, it's one big pocket with included optional divider.

Having only had the 50 empty for a day, I have not decided what impact this plays on the usefulness of the front pockets. At first glance I took it as a downside, but nothing to really base that on.

On the one hand the big pocket is clearly going to be more flexible, but on the other it won't be perfect one camera body size anymore.

Like I said, just an impression, YYMV

I do like the 2 front pockets of the 30. I'll wait and see before I sell off my 30.
thanks

man, those are some big bags. These days, my retro 10 feels massive, as my daily kit has shrunk tremendously. Will probably sell it soon enough.
