Olympus OM-1 -> Minolta for about 15 years (SRT 101, XG-7, XD-11) -> Rollieflex -> Canon Film (AE-1, EOS - 1) -> Canon Digital (1Ds, 10D, 20D, 1D mkII n, 50D, 7D, 1D mk IV, I DX II) -> (employer went to Nikon/personal still Canon) -> Sony (a6300, A7r MK II, A7 mkIII) (aka Minolta)

That was over a period of 45 years. In the middle there I have had point and shoots from Rollie, Canon, Fuji, Sony and Apple (my iPhone is my point and shoot now)

I still own most of this equipment - all displayed in my office. Its my personal journey through photography. I even still have my darkroom equipment, still sitting there anxiously awaiting for me to come back and use it. Ain't going to happen.

My favorite.... you never forget your first love.... the OM-1. It just has a certain realness to it. Lots of good memories. Still works too.

Late starter in proper photography. I'm 54, and got first digicam in 2000, a Polaroid with 320kp. That's right, kp not MP. Favourite digicams, a Jenoptik Jendigital JDC 2.1 (Excellent IQ) and a Fuji 3MP. A few p&s zooms and acouple of bridge models followed. First SLR was a Pentax K-m and several used lenses. Had it for 3 months, then saw a 6mth old EOS 600D for £180.00 less than half the new price. I still have that, and also upgraded to an 80D. I sold the Pentax for more than I paid for it, though I put a few extra lenses into the deal. No plans to switch as I like the Canon layout and feel.

Canon EOS 70D, Canon EOS 600D, EF-S 18-55 ii, EF 55-200 USM ii, EF-S 75-300 iii, Tamron 28-80, Sigma 70-210. Pentax 50mm, Pentax 135mm, EF-S 55-250, Raynox Macro adapter, Neewer filters (CPL, UV, FLD & ND4), Fuji HS20 EXR (30X zoom ) & cable release, Yongnuo 560 iii & Luxon 9800A manual flashguns for the Fuji, Hama Star 63 tripod, Hongdek RC-6 remote control, Velbon DF 40 www.point-n-shoot.co.uk website.

Once for me. Started with a Canon XTi. As I was upgrading lenses, I decided to try a Nikon D3000. I stuck with the Nikon for one reason (at the time). I wanted to take action shots of my dogs running. The Canon had a faster frame rate but the Nikon had more usable (in focus) shots. That did it for me. Ever since, I've been a "Nikon fangirl" and prefer their ergonomics.

Sorry for reviving this old post, but I switched yet again today! When I started this post 4 years ago I had been bouncing around from one camera system to the next. I finally "settled" for Canon with a 7dmk2, 16-40mm 4.0 L and a 70-200mm 2.8 L. I even purchased a couple of Canon travel dslrs (T3i and T6).

A "perfect storm" occured during these past two weeks that made me switch: while shooting my kids graduation I noticed two corrupt files (greyed out lower part of two images. Sounds like the early onset of shutter failure, so off it sill go to Canon repair. Then the Nikon D750 was on sale this weekend with a promo to pay in in 5 monthly installments. Luckily I still kept my old Nikon prime lenses and a few zooms from my film and D200 days!

So, I am now back with Nikon! ( However, I plan to keep my Canon gear as well) .

I can imagine the wallet pain for some in this thread. For me 3 times

Started with Minolta X-370, went to the X-700 and built that system up. When Minolta got out of the SLR side I was ???
A buddy had a Nikon FA and I liked that system. Sold the Minolta's for the Nikon F4s and built that system up.
Started getting more work and medium format was the next move. Chose Bronica 645 for their 45-90 which had just been released. (I would have been better choosing 'Blad, Mamiya or Contax 645) Kept the Nikon rig.

Digital capture came in and sold the Nikon and Bronica gear. That stuff sold at what felt like $.20:$1

Have been with Canon digital since they released the 5D. Even though I haven't switched, selling off gear/lenses still hurts.

Side stuff has been the Noblex 6 150-E2 and Contax G that are both still here.

Shot Canon for close to 30 years. Just sold my entire Canon kit to jump to Nikon. Doubt I'll switch again lest I risk having to sleep in the garage.

Finalizing my newest switch. I went Canon T3i -> Canon 7D, then sold the Canon gear for Olympus M43, and now have sold almost everything and moved to a Nikon D750. I really wish I didn't wait as long as I did for getting a Nikon FF!

I started a switch from Canon to Sony, but here 1.5 years later I still have a 5D Mark III and three zooms, plus a complete Sony A7rIII based kit.

On top of that, I added a GoPro Hero 7 and a DJI Spark. Those two cameras do things that neither the Canon nor Sony systems can, and are a delight (and learning curve) for me.

You should try out the insta 360 one x...... one day, a waterproof one will be made with higher resolution.... camera of the future. The idea is you put the camera in front of you without worrying about where you point it, since it records in every direction. You then record the film in post.

What's amazing about it is that you can literally have multi views in one clip. You can do a view of a third person recording your trip, while and at the same time, a hyperlapse from another view of the same camera....... it's shockingly amazing. Also, the footage is buttery smooth, truly gimbal like. You can literally throw the device and get stable footage, it's one of the features :-)
