So I decided to give the astro a go.
I live in a pretty bad area light pollution wise...so sorry for the loss in a lot of detail. I now, as of this morning, have a LPR filter and will also be trying to move further afield for more detail and less pollution.

Set up a Sony A7s and a 5D mk III. Unluckily the 5DIII had a moving spot of dust on the sensor so no timelapse from it...but did get one from the A7s.

The 5DmkIII gave some nice stills though.

And finally the timelapse. It was a quick 30min job so should really have done a bit more colour work...but eh well. With the light pollution it felt kinda pointless. Do like the dust from the meteor though about halfway in.

How's that LPR filter working for you? Love the detail on the shooting star.

OK. So the filter for the sigma 24mm I stuck on with a 77-52mm down stepping ringand then INVERTED (so placed the next down stepping ring on THE INSIDE of the first) a 52mm-48mm to fit the 2" LPR filter as close as possible to the front element without crashing in to it.

Here is a shot of my wall...that is in drastic need of repainting I know.

I know it looks bad, but 90% of my videos, I resize to give a 16:9 crop. On doing this, I find I do not have to crop much and still have like a 15MP image to work with on the 5DmkIII.

This is the "ultimate test". A shot directly over a large town on the horizon. It is thick blanket cloud here so no stars I am afraid.

WITH THE FILTER AND EDITED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO RETAIN AS MUCH DETAIL IN THE CLOUDS AS POSSIBLE (on a 30s shutter....oh well...).

NO FILTER BUT ADJUSTED LIKE THE FIRST IMAGE WITH THE FILTER.

Now, a couple of things to take away so far. When holding the filter overy my eye, the orange appears to go. Certain street lamps I can see in the town just fade to id say 1/10 of their brightness.
Some lights are completely unaffected (like those halogen looking white ones in the middle of the image).

There is clearly some "more" detail in the clouds in the filtered image.

The filter causes a one stop ISH loss in light transmittance, to get similar histograms after white balancing both images, I had to raise the exposure by about one in camera.

I will try and do some more shots later next week once the clouds go away...but we seem a bit screwed visibility wise for the next few days.
