Very cool photos in here.
Unfortunately all of my photos have my huge watermark across the front because the kids take them, post them all over and sometimes even claim their family took them.

I could post some up if they'll link from my Facebook page.

rdalrt.....your night time high school football images are awesome. I do not know how you do it but the images are just great. This environment is very challenging for photography. I have a 5d Mark III and a Canon 70-200 2.8L II that I use...and Lightroom. I hope to be able to get your results at some point. Thanks for sharing!!!!!

Just started shooting games this year. I have only done 6 so far. I shoot for the local paper and they put a link up to my sight as well as being paid to shoot the game (paid peanuts but I'm not giving my work away) I am starting to sell shots from my sight now too. I'm not a football fan but I really enjoy the challenge of getting the shot. I think I need to work on getting more isolated shots of the kids as well as plays of the game that has been my main focus.

Which lens do you use? The 1st three are good action, but the last shot your focus is on the defender in the back ground. The 1st image looks like the pass was tipped and about to be intercepted.

Just a note, sometimes you get lucky and the play comes right to you and other times it goes away from you. There are shots I always like to get, such as the the hand off, the QB throwing, the running sweeping around the corner, defender getting the sack and I get lucky every now and again and the passing play comes right to me.

Have fun and be safe. If you have not done so, you should get some liability insurance just in case one of those guys gets as a result of you and to insure your gear. I am not sure how your working agreement is with the papers and maybe they cover that sort of thing - may want to check with them.

The canon 200-400 f4 is x1.4 for these shots. I slo shot with a 7dII with a 70-200 f2.8 is

The first shot was a tip and interception. Yep the focus is a little intake of the receiver in the last. I picked the wrong shot of the series to post here. I also need to work on my sorting of pics after the game.

Nice capture. I would crop that tighter veriticaly, unless the paper wants it loose. Also, try turning off the 1.4 and shoot wide open. Aperture f4 will blur the background more and you gain 1 more stop of light and one stop less ISO. In that light, you could go up to SS 2500 at the same ISO speed with F4. From my readings, that lens is sharp wide open.

Been shooting various high school football games around San Diego every Friday for my internship. Here are a few from this season:

What I liked about these were the facial expressions. Night football this time of year can be tough and a pet peeve of mine are night shots where the inside of the helmet is so dark you can't tell who is inside. This is particularly true of African-American players.
