I was recently inspired by a Make Magazine video and built a splash photography rig. The camera and flash in these photos were controlled by an Arduino, as was a 'dropper' device. The time delay between the drop, the camera shutter, and the flash were manually set for each shot. Two (Yungnuo) speedlights were used: one inside the glass bowl/cup and one backlight / key light. I'm just beginning to learn about flash photography, so forgive the poor shadows in a few of these.

The only small fruit in the house were oranges. These guys were being stubbornly inconsistent- sticking to the dropper, falling at the wrong times and in the wrong directions. After many shots, this was the best one. I called it good.

Had some lego. Made use of a shark, barrel, and horse.

The shadow was unfortunate... Didn't know how to handle it. I have quite a bit to learn.
