OK, so I didn't know what else to call it. And why don't we have a Bugs subforum other than Macro which this doesn't fit? Somehow I don't see it as Wildlife.

So I'm coming into the house & this guy was on the door, all spread out like your kids finger painting on the fridge. Or the stuffed toy stuck to the back window of Mom's SUV. Or someones cat on your face in the morning after a wild Saturday night.
I shot it, like I'd have liked to do to the cat.

I waited a bit for the sun to come from behind a cloud, changed the angle a little, & took another one.

I was liking it better except for the crappy shadow, so I thought I'd wait a bit. 10 minutes later it had enough & flew away.
Of course, that's when I asked myself WTH I didn't open the door a little to try to get the shadow off it's leg? So goes life out in the sticks of Michigan. ; )

I really like both shots, but the first is my favorite. Being a moderator and all, don't you have a little pull when it comes to creating a non-macro section? I never know where to post Butterflies!

Technically, "Wildlife" is supposed to be for, "All of the critters that walk, crawl, hop, swim or swing that you won't let live in the house..", so unless there's a huge lobbying effort from the members, b-flys & elephants go in the same section.
Thanks for the comment, though!

I like it with the shadow. It gives it a 3D look, 2 perspectives of the wing, and more details with the lighting. Reminds me of something I've seen before on either a cartoon, or sci-fi.

Very cool shots. Thanks for sharing.

"...cat on your face in the morning after a wild Saturday night." Who had the wild Saturday night - you or the cat? :-P

Some memories are fuzzy, but I suspect that answer is "both of us?" ; D

I guess it depends on what your personal definition of "Macro" is?

Everyone runs into that from time to time.
