Photoshop CC dpi issue.

So I switched from Photoshop CS6 to PS CC and today I ran into an issue.

I needed to crop an image to 8 inches wide and 300dpi. I do what I normally do to achieve this. Save my work and send the file via email to the client. He emails back that the file is only 96dpi. So I retry and send it again. Same thing, an hour later its only 96 dpi. I'm frustrated and look at the file and it is indeed 96 dpi. So I do all the steps over again and save everything. Close out of PS and reopen it and reopen the file and sure enough, its 96 dpi, even though I am 110% sure I saved it and everything was correct.

Any ideas why it would be doing this? This is something I do quite frequently and never had an issue until now. I have an email out to Adobe but who knows how long it will take to hear back.

Sounds like you are saving the image for the Web by mistake. Check your save as options.

Image files do not have dots. They have pixels.

If you want your file to be 8 inches at 300 pixels per inch, set your crop tool to reflect that. The 8 inch side will be 2400 pixels wide (8 x 300).

It sounds like you and the receiving person are looking at the exif/file properties rather than the file size. You can put any figure you like in the exif (1 dpi or 20 million dpi), it wont make any difference to the file size. It will still be 2400 pixels on the 8 in side.

I know you had problems trying to post to this thread. Has that been resolved? I would be interested in knowing what the problem was, and what, if anything, was done to fix it.
