Greetings - I just received the 70-200 MKII but am considering returning it. The box is different than the typical "L" box with the red line on the side that says Canon. This box is all gray with black ends. Is this the new color boxes that Canon is switching towards? Or did I receive a different version?

it's just a box...i think the newest boxes from canon are grey...in the end, you should be more concerned with how the lens works than the color of the box though...

I know it's just a box. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't receive either old stock that Amazon had on their shelf or a non-US version.

Think that is the new packaging. Your description sounds just like the box I received last week for my new 100-400L II.

Here is the same box that my brand new 16-35 f/4 L IS came in at my local shop.
All good Langer.

I just have one comment. The only "old stock" 70-200 f/2.8 mark II to be concerned about is technically the mark I version.
