Well, not really, but he looks that way ;)

The shot is what it is - it's a snapshot. What I am interested to hear about is the processing, colors, contrast etc. Would you do it differently ?

Looks like a blue tint has been added to the highlights or brushed onto a lot of the image. This has turned the clouds blue where they should be white. In addition it appears on the areas of the tree trunks, the foreground floor, details on the house and the foreground wall. It looks unnatural and doesn't seem to serve a purpose. - Was there something particular you were trying to achieve with this? Maybe if you say we may be able to offer some suggestions.

The red life preserver is also over saturated/bright and as such keeps attracting my eye. In addition to dumbing that down I would do the opposite with the man and brighten him a fraction so he stands out.

Other than those comments I think it is actually a nice shot.

^^ nailed it.

it is a bit crooked too. On shots like this having a vertical line in the center of the frame is always helpful. Notice the corner of the building behind the man, that line, since it is in the center of the frame, should be nice and straight.

Thanks for replies !

The sky was greyish blue and overcast and came out completely blown in the JPEG (I shoot Raw + JPEG). I then toned down Highlights and got the clouds. They are probably blue because they weren't really white, the whole sky was very hazy and kind of one color. I may have added Blue saturation, will check.

The life preserver was extremely bright, rich red in real life. I will however tone it down, it is too loud.

I don't have Photoshop. I use C1P and an old version of PSP. I will see what tools there are in these programs for dealing with key stoning.

my personal taste was for the original perspective--i'm not a fan of over straightening since it tends to look fake. maybe something in between the two? a little slant to me gives some strength and personality.

i assume the colors were done to personal taste so that's fine. but i'd say the clouds look a little strange on the top left--the shading doesn't look right.

anyway, that's my personal taste.

nice shot!

The cloud on the top left looks extremely weird but he only thing I did was to lower highlights and a global WB adjustment. I did not touch that area at all.
