To me this text, which is one of the pieces of text displayed while a post being saved, seems sarcastic and mildly offensive. It comes across like Pekka and the forum consider what we write irrelevant drivel. How about a simple "Please wait, saving post" instead?

I find it humorous and nice touch of Pekka and his fun sense of humour.

AMASS is filled with little quirks and odd sayings, some of which may have not translated very well, but all are meant in a light hearted way and should be taken as such.

tim, are you kidding? Why would I throw away my only chance in this life to get credited with breathtaking insight?

However, I do smile at being commended for my humbling mastery of grammar when all I did was post a photo.

I think it's funny. "Seems sarcastic"? Of course it's sarcastic, "mildly offensive" get a grip

I think your post is more offense than the message.

I suspect you're right, that some sayings aren't interpreted the in different countries. Though you're in the same country as me.

I would be very interested to learn how that phrase can be offensive. I'm a Finn but nevertheless I try to cater for international members and get the spelling right.

That message is intended to be stress-relieving, humorous and fun. They do not check what you wrote and how much, they are random -- that creates sometimes fun situations on its own :)

The phrases you can get (as seen in javascript sources) are:

Saving your
"masterpiece",
"magnificent opus",
"incredible work",
"great input",
"thoughtful words",
"symphony of grammar",
"amazing use of synonyms",
"valuable contribution",
"spelling errors, too",
"humbling mastery of grammar",
"paramount pile of paragraphs",
"unique perspective",
"superb sentences",
"clever commentary",
"magnificent manuscript",
"breathtaking insight",
"exhilariting phrases"

I fail to see the offensive part in those. Even "spelling errors, too" is not an insult - POTN humor if nothing else.

feel free to contribute to the list.

I understand that the only one of those Jake sees is the "spelling errors too", even though we all know it's his keyboard. :{)#

"exhilariting phrases"

Ah! At last I can look at this one long enough to identify what's wrong with it. It always looked suspect, but it vanished too soon.

The correct spelling is "exhilarating."

I have a hard time finding anything that is random and issued equally to anyone for a very short period of time in a non-public format very offensive.

I'm okay with it because I don't perceive the messages as sarcastic. I take them as exaggerated compliments meant to provide humor and cheer. Well, not the one about spelling errors. That's not a compliment, of course. It's a different kind of joke.

It's good to raise these things, if you saw something in it that could be taken the wrong way, then it is probable someone else has as well :)
