You apparently have chosen not to use any of theses...

  • "strikingly mediocre"
  • "of questionable technical or artistic merit"
  • "<heavy sigh>"
  • "(pardon me, I am going to be sick...)"

Strangely enough I find these less insulting, more on the funny side. The initial one seemed to express Pekka's disdain or derision of (for?) the forum members contribution.

That would be the case if it wasn't automated!

What?

I interpreted the comments as being comments from the forum owner. The whole aloof thing combined with subtle sarcasm is offputting in that scenario.

Of course I don't think that is in any way what you intended, it's just how it comes across to me. Which is why I raised it. When a few people have agreed with me why retain something meant to be funny that can cause offense?

Maybe. But I've been a member for a heck of a long time here, I've seen it change and evolve, and I'm doing my bit to keep it a friendly, constructive forum. I'm not particularly offended by it, but I think it could offend some and put people off.

One idea is to customize that message, like a person's title, so that if Tim likes, he can get his own, in time, if the TF so deems it.

For some, the message would be "You again, seriously, ok, posting your bull$... please wait."

For others, "You're from LA, so, just be rad and lay back while we get you in the flow, duuuude..."

Simple.

Wow, I bet the TF would love that power.

I can see it now,

"You did a fantastic job posting that comment on the Crop Factor thread Jake, no go reward yourself with an nice beverage"

I have noticed that the TF is wicked-fast, wicked-sharp these days, ever since receiving an upgraded software platform, I suspect. She's surely able to custom produce wait/error messages.

I also noticed the cool new 'banned' logo some get.

Fancy feast of features.

Seems like most people are ok with it. I just find it mildly offensive. Keep it if you like.

Not only OK, but truly funny, i love this personal touch of POTN

yeah, they must have some search working and if you spell it out, they nail you within minutes...we need a secret code word when referring to the TF, so they don't make us all look terrible...i used to be happy with myself for not saying anything stupid enough to warrant a title...

I got some ideas for the "Likes" :p

"Thank you, this member will be ban ASAP"
"Two more likes and you win"
"Nickname exchange accepted"

I just don't understand how anyone can take offense from a message that is automated and selected from a pre-determined list?? Its not like the software actually read the post and decided that it was poor and added an insult.
