I'll wait until the price drops a bit. Way too high right now...

Finally for sale in the USA.

I want an M3 (Wifi and remote shutter control from app, that's a big one for me on this cam; better focus system another big one for me; more resolution and slightly better high ISO noise pattern). But I'll wait until it's a cheap throw away around $300 or so before it replaces my M1. Agree with it being too costly for what it is for now.

The remote control via wifi is the biggest thing in my opinion. That's the one feature on the EOS-M right now that I want, so dearly bad, is a remote shutter release port for long exposure (never mind that infra-red crap). There is tragic lantern and that gives you options with remote triggering, but it's annoying to use tons of hacked up devices and software just to get something that should have already been in the camera to start. Biggest flaw of the EOS-M is the lack of remote shutter port. So the addition of WiFi so we can do that remotely now, with the EOS-M3 is probably it's selling point for me when it becomes attractive for it's cost.

The focus system is also significantly better, which matters to me for some of my uses. My current EOS-M right now, for indoor use or out on the town with family, will hunt and take forever to lock focus. I'm frankly faster manually, by far. But it gets the job done. Regardless, having a much better AF system would be very nice. For my other uses of the EOS-M, I have no need for AF at all. But I still want the capability, and the better system is attractive.

Edit:

Wow, you can get the EOS-M3 on the bay right now for $400 shipped from Japan roughly on average. Maybe there's hope for some $300~400 in the USA sales after a few more months.

Very best,

Add me to the interested party, but at a cheaper price, list. The better auto focus performance and EFV interest me, but at that price I will continue to use my EOS M 1.

Has some nice upgrades over my M. Like you, I will wait for the body price to drop before I jump.
Actually my M takes very nice pictures and I have no complaints with the results so really don't NEED the M3. ;)
Tilt screen, faster processor, 24 MB all appeal to me. Maybe at $450. I already have the 4 lenses.
Probably donate my M to my son if/when I upgrade.

Well there is the 6D II, the 5D IV, etc. Crap. It never ends.

The only complaint I have with the original m is the focus speed indoors. Otherwise, the files are fantastic IMHO. I'm talking the jpeg too....

What is the difference between USA and international M3 besides the warranty? 6th Ave Express has white M3 for $372? and black one for $680?

But $372 is almost half the price from Adorama...becomes a throw away at that point

Both come off the same production line. They just take different distributive journeys. Imports/greys might have a different user manual. Canon USA may or may not service the import during what would have been the one-year warranty period had the buyer purchased domestically, but there's information suggesting that they do it. It's certainly in Canon USA's interest to dissuade consumers from buying imports. After that one-year period expires, I don't see any practical difference whatsoever, unless you're blind to the global economy.

It's a statistical risk, but most cameras don't fail during that one-year period.

Yeap, it's good for that cost to me.

I just don't want a white one.

Agreed. The whole point of the M series is portability and discretion.

I was set to get a Fuji x100 or X-T10 with a small prime, but the G3x looks really cool as does this. So many smaller options available these days its tough to decide.

I love the idea of the EVF, but I'm annoyed that it just adds bulk and weird shape/size to the system. Part of the attraction for me to the M system is the lack of bulk.

Too bad they couldn't have made the EVF on the M's body in some way, even if small.

Very best,
