I need to find a program that allows me to trace around part of my image and place it in another image.
I do a lot of product review work and that would be helpful.
Example would be taking a photo of a photography vest then trace around it and place the image of the vest into another photo or solid colored background.
I know it can be done in CS6 with the Lasso tool but I want one that is quicker and easier to use

Suggestions are appreciated

Thanks

Was it shot on a white background? Green screen? Busy background?

I would never use the Lasso tool for that. Some people like the Pen Tool. I prefer this, & there are other links in the thread: Selecting areas in PhotoShop

It depends on the object to be isolated, and the complexity of the mask necessary to preserve not only the potential for very fine, wispy structures along the border of the object, but also, potentially, transparency of parts of the object. While using an explicit selection tool (magic wand, color range, etc.) might work, you may be better off starting a mask based on the judicious choice of one of the RGB channels and then adjusting the contrast of the channel and the edges to get the mask you need to extract the object form the background. If you are not into all of that jazz, there are dedicated plug-in tools that will do the job for you, like Topaz ReMask.

Lighting the objects and shooting the objects against a background that makes the extraction most efficient will make life a lot easier too.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have gone with the Topaz Re-Mask it's easy and accurate and does the job well.
As evidenced by this photo I did yesterday. I had shot some photos for a turkey call company so just for fun I added the gobbler behind me. I think it works well.

IMHO, making realistic "cut and paste" selections is an art form...there isn't only one way.
Witness the guys that do matte painting.
