Does anyone make software which allows you to use a dslr to do scans of a stationary object for a 3D printer? I am considering the purchase of a 3D printer to duplicate some difficult to acquire objects, no longer manufactured, and I would really like to build a turntable which allows me to generate either an orthographic projection or some other form of three dimensional image which can be loaded into 3d printer software or autocad. I am very familiar with autocad so I am hoping that some sort of software exists which will suit my needs. I don't really see anything on google that fits my needs so I am hoping someone has a suggestion?

Agisoft PhotoScan is probably the most popular solution today; there are also other programs that do this, but this is the only one I'm familiar with.

All of these programs work by generating point clouds, turning them into meshes and then decimating the polys to a reasonable amount, so invariably some amount of manual clean-up work in a 3D editor will be required.

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

Thanks, this looks like a good start. Going to take a bit of reading. Any others?

An exhaustive list can be found here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org …f_photogrammetry_software (external link)
Photogrammetry is a fairly blanket term describing software for city planning, aerial photography, and other other stuff that's unrelated to simply turnng objects into 3D models. So most of the software on that list will be irrelevant for you.
