550EX

A friend of 15+ years got married this weekend so I, of course, wanted to document this event as best I could for him. Thankfully, two other friend felt the same way.

There were two 10d's and an Elan 7 in attendence.

Lane had a 420ex
Terry had a 550ex
I was manually using a 285hv (due to money constraints).

Half way through the evening Terry let me use his 550ex and I cannot believe the difference it made, the photos just came alive!

So, I ordered a 550ex today.

On another note, Lane shot a few photos with my 10d using his 16-35ef 2.8 lens and there is little or no discerable difference between it and my Sigma 24-70 ex 2.8 in jpeg mode. Maybe if it was shot in RAW or magnafied to 600% I would see a difference.

I have a 10D and I would like to purchase the 2 550ex/st-e2 deal from B&H.

How did you use the flash? Straight on? Bounce?

I used it mostly for bounce and immediately noticed the difference, I also used it straight on but I hate that look. Eitherway, what an incredible flash.

I will be purchasing a 420ex in the future as well.
