I feel like an idiot asking this, but have searched /googled & found nothing... I have a Canon 6d & last week also purchased a 7d mark ii, obviously the EOS Utility disc was downloaded & installed when I bought my 6d...my question is, do I need to do it again with the 7d? I'm thinking "No", but want to make sure...

Do the discs indicate the version of the software? If the 7DII software is a higher version number, I would install it. Or, go to the Canon site and get the latest version.

Yes, you should, since there are doubtless advances between the two. For instance, the later software will support the 7D2's RAW format (every new Canon seems to have a slightly different RAW format; before you run off screaming, this is also true for any other camera aside from those using .DNG as their standard). Actually, what you should do is go to the Canon site and get the updated versions of the software - it'll work for both cameras and it's probably even more recent than the software on the 7D2 disc (they just released new versions of EOS Utility and DPP, for instance, within the last 2 weeks).

Thanks! Looks like the latest version. Just wasn't totally sure if the Utility was specific to each camera... Pretty sure it isn't.

Your correct it isn't, 7D II version should be the newest.

Thanks EnglishBob! That's what I thought, not "camera specific".

Correct, not specifit to the camera. Just load up the latest version or grab the latest version from the Canon site. Doesn't matter for which camera, just the latest version.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

After I posted, I though of one caveat. This is true for DPP3.xxx but not for DPP 4.xxx. From what I understand DPP4.xxx just supports a small subset of bodies right now. I believe both the 6D and 7DII are in the set though. I know that the 5DII and 7D I are supported so I'm thinking the newer ones will be as well.
