Lightroom 5 vs. Creative Cloud

So I have Lightroom 5. I'm mostly happy with it and usually don't want more. Right now, I have a few photos which I want to do some HDR and might want to try the pano feature of LR6. If I understand correct LR6 can't be purchased as a stand alone product anymore and I can't even do a free 30 day trial.

If I do the free Creative Cloud trial for a month, what will happen to my catalogues if I use LR6 for a month? will they no longer be compatible with LR 5 if I want to stop paying Adobe's rental cartel? Maybe I should create new catalogues for use with LR6 only?

LR6 certainly can be purchased from Adobe - Both full and upgrade versions.
They are a bit hard to find on the Adobe site though!

Just do a Google search for "LR 6 download link upgrade" and there are loads of links and info about getting it.

The first time you try to open the LR 5 catalog in LR 6 it will copy the catalog and convert it to an LR 6 compatible catalog. (Same thing going from 2 to 3, 4 to 5, etc.) Save the original until you are sure you won't go back.
