I enjoy discussions on this forum but don't need or want to have all these high res images load.
Is there an option is disable / hide them by default across all threads, with the option to enable them?

This could save load time and page numbers both on mobile and laptops.

That has been on the todo list for a while.
I suppose you'll also need a way to view an individual image in original size by e.g. clicking it, or is a page-wide "show images" enough?

I'm happy with a page wide view with a zoom. I'd rather see an image full screen than too big and have to scroll.

One problem with this is that there are no thumbnails for embedded photos, so they would have to be only show as an icon or a text.

In "hide images" mode the best way would IHMO to show the image normally when used wants to see it (clicking a thumb or text "show this image"), and that "fit to post" would then have the glasses where you can get the 100% lighbox view. So the images shown would be exactly like they are now.

Yes yes 1000x Yes :D

Two options I see being great.

1 A settings level (Do not load images) [__]
With a tiny thumbnail to choose to load each image
( IE in a "is there something wrong with this lens" post )

2 Load all images in this thread [__]
at the top of each thread for things like the Lens sample gallery

This would allow most of POTN users to have everything 'normal'
as it has always been.
But give the option to us more mobile users to enable the new hide setting.
