I have an Eizo Flexscan 2431W (24") that I am satisfied with. (Except for the hight adjustment on the foot but that's a minor problem) I've had it for a couple of years, since 2009 I think.

Now I am looking for a 27" monitor.

So, anyone have any tips for 27" monitors that I will be as satisfied with for as long of a time as the 2431W that I have now?

Any tips are welcome!

I'm using an NEC PA272W that's really just awesome all around, and doesn't break the bank like a similarity-specced Eizo would, although I did get mine during a discount for $1k. Got the hood and Spectraview kit separately.

Not sure if it would sound right recommending something less expensive, the other options are limited in one way or another... like the Asus PA279Q has limited hardware calibration options and a glue-on hood. If that sounds fine to you than it does at least come with very good calibration out of the box and is less expensive at "only" $800. (not sure what kind of prices you have there in Sweden)

4K displays of equal display quality are absurdly expensive right now, so I wouldn't suggest going that route.

Edit: you may want to check out TFT Central for reviews of various displays: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews.htm (external link)

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.

I to am using the NEC PA272W, and just added the PA302W 30" for editing. The same software and calibration sensor can be used for both monitors, which is a plus. I just got a great price from B&H on the 30" ($500 off), but you have to watch day to day to catch the bargains. These are beautiful monitors, but I've never had an Eizo for comparison. Note that the 30" is a 16:10 aspect ratio vs the 16:9 on the 27". Side-by side comparison here:

Hmm, hard to say going on specs alone as most high-end 1440p 27" displays have similar specs. For instance, using the comparison tool on the Eizo site shows little difference between the CS270, CX271 and CG277, displays which can cost considerably more than the CS. Probably varying levels of QC and features. I believe the PA272 is most comparable to the CX271.

For what it's worth, the PA272 is NEC's best display and is well reviewed, while the CS270 is Eizo's entry-level and I haven't found any reviews/tests online. On the other hand, even a low-end display from Eizo is still high end by any measure. It's your call.

Actually, since you already own an Eizo display, your current calibration tool (I'm assuming you have one) should work fine on the new one too, whereas NEC displays work best with their custom Spectraview colorimeters. Not that you would have to get one, they just get within a few dE fractions closer to perfect if reviews are to be believed... you'll easily get under dE2 either way.

Using a Dell U2715H 1440p and loving it. It is the same panel as Apple uses in their thunderbolt displays. Comes color calibrated from Dell.

I will upgrade to 4k in 2-3 years once the prices come down and the tech is more proven.

I'm looking into getting the Apple 27" 5K retina display iMac within the next few weeks. I have read a lot of reviews, and watched a lot of reviews. I mean, a LOT of reviews! All indications are that it is a very good display, the equal of which is almost impossible to find. And all for the price of a 5D3 body!

I'll check back to this thread after I get it and let you know how well (or poorly) it works for photo viewing and editing needs.

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
