@EightEleven, the use may be limited. If you have an easy to get some kind of payment from someone, you typically have to tell that person to paypal your email address. If you get a URL that is easy to remember, you can just give them that URL.

For example:
paypal.me/john

I said the same thing years ago when I friend of mine "invited" me to Gmail. I had my super-duper Hotmail accounts, why would I ever need Gmail? Hotmail still exists, and it's the email I use for signing up on websites. But by accepting the Gmail invite I got first.last@gmail.com.
