Today marks the day in history that the Japanese surrender to the US on the USS Missouri. It took a lot of brave souls to bring bout this day and the end of WW ll. To which I owe a big theak you and a debt which I will never be able to repay.

What does this have to do with transportation?

This man.

Theodore Van Kirk. Better known as Dutch Van Kirk. Navigator for the Enola Gay that dropped "The bomb" on Hiroshima. I had the chance to meet and talk with him during his visit to Charlotte NC in 2013. Quick witted and just a blast (no pun intended) to talk to. He sadly passed away in 2014 to natural causes.

Just thought I would share the photo because of the role he and the Enola Gay had in it

I was wondering who would be the first. Now I know.

Under transportation, it starts with "aviation" and so on. This is aviation history with a photo. Or wait, since I am just talking about the Enola Gay, maybe, it should be moved to the "discussion" section. Or heck , maybe never post to the forum again and just put it on the WW ll forums since it is also talking about WW ll history. Jeeezzz.

No where does it say, I can not post a photo of a person having something to do with aviation. In fact, there is a whole thread here devoted to just such. Pilots at work.....post your favorite.

Go bug someone else, please

Holy crap, man! I was simply pointing you in the right direction. I was in no way implying you should never post to this forum again.

:cry::cry::cry:

Not you specifically. But someone always gotta start something on here. Now it is moved. So, why are they not moving the pilots thread. See my point. Just fed up with the whole place.

Possibly because there are actual aircraft in the others' photos. Just a guess. ;-)a

Some but most are not. Most are closeups or crops. Which then going by what has transpired , makes them people photos. Just sayin'

I mean take a look at the people page threads. Just the first page. Do you really feel , this section honors the man? Where this photo really belongs?
