looking for a point and shoot and pretty much am down to these two. Here's what I had as my pros/cons list.

Camera would be used for vacation walkarounds and aerial photography (so weight is an important concern). Also note that I do not care in any way about purchasing gray market items as long as the seller is reputable

S110
Pros - lighter, significantly cheaper, slightly more focal length range

G7X
Pros - faster lens, bigger, higher resolution sensor, tiltable screen (turns out selfies are an important part of vacations!)

The 7 is a better camera in virtually every way, other than size. But you really need to decide how much that is worth to you. I always felt the S cameras were a bit overrated. Given your preferences, I'd be choosing between a pocket zoom camera, like the Sony WX500 - 24-720mm w/selfie flip screen and the G7X, or maybe one of the RX100s (original version sells for < $300 used now).

I'd only want the S110 if absolute smallest size and/or cost was primary decision making point.

Smallest size is pretty high on my list since I want to use it for aerial photography, but the more I think about it, the 1/2.3" sensor to 1/1.7" sensor is way less of an upgrade than 1/1.7" to 1". Right now I'm leaning quite hard to the G7X and hoping prices go down a bit

Would the fact that the g7x has wifi factor into your aerial photography at all? Im leaning to a g7x and i already have an eos m.

I carry and use my S100 a lot. That might not be the case if it were bigger. The S series are not overrated imo. I rarely, if ever, lament any deficit in resolution. If resolution or speed might be an issue, I leave the house with a different camera.

I got my G7x not too long ago. Worth every penny. Not as "pocketable" as reviews state, if you wear cargo oants or a hoodie, I suppose it works in those pockets. A little awkward to hold IMO, I plan to pick up the grip to add to the front which I think will make a big difference.

G9x for 529 if you want small? It's a G7x in a smaller body.

G7x has a much brighter aperture, longer lens (24mm is super important) and will probably be more expensive for a decent while

I'd be very excited for the second generation of a 1 inch sensor in a ~200g body once they get a 24mm lens in there

In all seriously, the G9X going to a 28mm lens is a HUGE strike for me. If it had a 24mm lens it might be literally the perfect camera for what I want to do in aerial photography. There just hasn't been another camera with a 1 inch sensor and this kind of overall form factor (e.g. weight)

so I bought the G9X. The size ended up being the killer. So far, I'm very happy - as a companion to my SLR where I always have a UWA, 28mm has not been an issue at all and IQ is outright phenomenal
