If you look at the battery door near where the rubber grip is, you will notice a little rubber door. What is that for? Is there a part number for that as well? I never realized it was a little piece of rubber until last night.

It is just an AC adapter and replaces the battery. One use would be in a studio setting where you can plug this adapter in and run the camera all day without having to change batteries. Of course you would need 110 voltage ( or 220, depending on country of use) to use this adapter.
