I will be spending a weekend in Barcelona later in the month before continuing farther south in Spain.
We are planning to visit the usual tourist spots while there to see all the interesting architecture... I will be taking my 6D but I only have 2 lenses, 16-35 f4 and 70-200 2.8 II..
I don't want to attract attention to my gear from thieves so will leave my 70-200 at home..probably wouldn't be too much use for it anyway in a city.
My question is, would I be able to manage with just my 16-35 or do you think I should pick up something a little longer to go with it...maybe a short telephoto ???

I think you should be fine with the 16-35, especially since it has IS. I like to travel with a wide zoom and fast prime, and took the 17-40 and 35F2IS to London. I use the 35 at museums and street photos, and the wide lens for architecture.
I would always take a second lens just in case something happens to your zoom. I personally wouldn't want a long lens for most things when travelling, nothing longer than 50 on a 6D. You might be able to use a long zoom for a small fraction of your photos, but I would rather have a wide lens on my camera in Barcelona. I have been there, and it is worth going back!

Thanks for your input...
I have been thinking for a while about buying the sigma 50 mm art and may purchase it before my trip so I have a second lens just in case..

I was in Barcelona for three days. The 16-35 will be well served while shooting architecture/ landscapes, but I would carry the zoom if I were you. At times, it allows you take pictures with interesting perspectives, or zoom into landmarks from a distance.

From a safety perspective, I would the narrow lanes around Las Rambala at night, but otherwise i did not experience any problem, including walking, using metro at night with a camera bag on me. An attempt was made to pickpocket me, but that was in daytime, in the over crowded metro, and I was saved by the fact that my wallet was in the inner pocket of my photographers jacket. YMMV.

Cheers,
Ajay

Thanks for the advice... To go with my 16-35 I have picked up a 24-105. That will give me a bit more reach and should be a pretty good walk about lens.
