Canon Jacked Up its Prices This Week?

A couple of weeks ago I was looking at the 430 EX II speedlight and I believe it was listed for $199 on Amazon and at B&H. I checked this week and it is "on sale" for $249!! :0

I wonder if this is a marketing ploy to get people to buy the new 430 EX III which is listed at $299. Average buyers would reason that for $50 more they would be getting a newer generation flash.

The price dropped to $199 on Jul 5th, but was approx. $257 before then. See this site to see how the price has changed over time:

I recommend adding the camelcamelcamel extension to your browser as you can see the price history for most items directly on the page you're viewing on Amazon and other sites.
