I am about to pull the trigger and get the sigma 150-600c to use with my 7D Mark II and was hopping to see some more shots at 600mm using the 7D Mark II and any comments using that combination .

Thanks Judd S.

You might want to ask in this thread;

I note that a number of images in the last few pages are taken with 7D2

These photos are not mine. I found them while surfing flickr. Matt shoots with the 5D3.

I bought the Sigma 150-600 C and it should arrive in a few days.

I switched from 7D + EF 300 f/4L + EF 1.4x II to 7D MkII + 150-600C earlier this year. I haven't been able to use it as much as I would like, it takes practice to get used to trying to track subjects @ 600mm. So far I have been mostly happy with this setup. I haven't taken the time to do Micro Focus Adjustments yet(I do have the dock and have updated firmware and changed some other settings) but I do feel I will get more consistent results after MFA(TBH I consider the dock a must have for Sigma lenses that support it).

There are a few images at 600 in my gallery.

Thanks for all the shots. So I bit the bullet and bought the Sport instead and it should be here very soon. After seeing all the sots I'm pumped and can't wait to start using it.

Congratulations! I'm sure you will enjoy the Sport. Since you were looking at the C version, I would like to know what changed your mind, especially after seeing the wonderful photos here taken with the C.

I recently had the opportunity to try the Sigma 150-600 Sports. I rather liked it!
Nothing is perfect - I didn't like the F6.3 aperture at the long end, and it is quite a lump ( I was thinking of it as a walkabout lens). Against that the build is very nice (I normally use Canon L Lenses), controls are smooth, though quite heavy it is very easy to hand hold ( I managed 1/160 sec at 600mm with OS off), the AF was accurate and reasonably quick and the IQ seems pretty good.
Overall I think it is a very nice lens at an absolute bargain price - enjoy!
I have attached a couple of un-edited images - both hand held with OS off (I don't like OS/IS/VR etc as they muck up the AF performance).

From everything I have seen there is very little between the Sport and Contemporary as far as IQ goes. The Sport has better whether sealing and build quality (I just carry a cheap waterproof lens cover in case of rain with my 'C' lol) and a slightly shorter MFD. They are both f6.3 at the long end.
The three reasons I went for the 'C' over the Sport was Weight, Weight and Weight - at less than 2KG it is a very comfortable walk around IMO.
BTW for anyone that does buy either of these lenses then the USB dock is a must IMO - being able to customize AF speed, Focus limiter and OS settings helps considerably in my experience.
Attached snap of a flyer taken at 600mm last week taken with the 'C' (big crop) - I always turn off OS for flyers.

I changed my mind due to the size of the focus ring and in the long run the weather sealing/dust sealing. I have been finding my self over riding auto focus quite often lately with my 100-400 when I'm shooting in the trees and thought the larger size focus ring may be a plus. Seeing I live in MN. and shoot in all kinds of weather, the weather sealing may be worth it. I am hoping to keep the lens for many years so the extra cost for the weather sealing should pay off....I hope

Well I got the Sport yesterday evening and managed to get it out briefly this afternoon. It was quite overcast but managed this Monarch at 600mm handheld. What a pig but worth it. Looking forward to some good light to put it through its paces.I bought the dock but feel I should spend some time shooting with it before I make any changes to its function unless there is some known function change that has been a common change among all you Sigma 150-600mm users.

Thanks. I knew about the weather-sealing but hadn't really thought about the difference in the size of the focus rings.
