I plan on donating this to our local Fire Department to auction off during their fundraiser. I have probably tried 20 different colors for the text, and I still can't find one I really like.

Go white, or sample the neon green from the coat.

The yellow looks fine to me. From the first line of text, I slide easily down to the next thing, the helmet, because those colors match.

Very nicely done! Good on ya for supporting our unsung hero's in the fire service. Great donation. I hope they get lots of good high bids. It is worth it . . .

Great shot! The fire looks pinkish to me though. I wonder if it would make sense to make it more orange-red.

If I don't get the shots I want with the gear I have, the only optics I need to examine is the mirror on the bathroom wall. The root cause will be there.

Another thought, on looking at it again. You might consider making his face, above the chin, a tiny bit lighter. It would look more normally proportioned without taking away the implication, given by the deep shadow, that this isn't a portrait of one man in particular but instead represents all who do what he does.
